Dear Body,

Ibuprofen is a pain-killer. Therefore an appropriate response to a second maximum dose in an hour is to stop with the pain. Please.

Me.

It's fairly dodgy, but no more than some. That sort of dose is usually for when I need the sleep as well (800mg will put me to sleep pretty pronto!) I wouldn't recommend it, but it's an acceptable risk for me.

Doctors will quite happily prescribe 800mg every four hours for temporary pain anyway. It's not like it's paracetamol, where a very small amount over the maximum dosage can be very bad news.

Also, it's not like it's paracetamol. Ibuprofen actually does something for pain. I may not have had period pain since January, but pregnancy is no protection against headaches - it actually causes them.

Well, you are a biochemist/accountant after all ;) if you can't work out what's OK - who can?

Though I maintain you ought really to see your GP...
