Man from UNCLE review
I came across a couple of old Man from UNCLE eps on VHS the other day, so I re-set up my video play to see what was on it. Surprisingly, one of them was The Project Strigas Affair, which is most famous for being the first time ever William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy appeared on screen together (mere months later, they were starring in Star Trek)
But oh, I can see why folk see the slash in this show. Take this particular exchange:
Scene: After the party where Mr. Donfield has been asked to 'show a weakness for women and strong martinis, Mr. Donfield is feeling a little bit the worse for wear and Mrs. Donfield is rather upset.
Mrs. Donfield: I never should've let him out of my sight, I should've known better."
Mr. Donfield: Oh, sweetie. It was just awful, You have no..." To Napoleon "What's our next move?"
Napoleon To Mrs. Donfield: "I know how you feel, Anne."
Mrs. Donfield: "Do you really, Mr. Solo?"
Knock at the door, Napoleon holds out a hand to silence the Donfields
Napoleon opens the door and Illya, still in disguise, walks in.
Illya: Kurasov insisted I spend the night at the Embassy.
*grin*
(You can see the exchange here, at You Tube, it's about five minutes in)

Ah MFU... I have a whole bunch of mates who see the slash in it who aren't even slashers. It's not just the snarky banter, it's all the looks and the touches... Solo tucking the hair back behind Illya's ear or running his fingers down Illya's lapel or... *g*
If only so much of the fiction didn't turn Illya into emo-Bambi. *sigh*

Best watched without the soundtrack but egads the looks:

It's not just the snarky banter, but that's good too...
And just be glad MUNCLE fans don't seem to want to write elf!Illya. I'm just saying...
I have to admit, Napoleon crying into his pillow is more likely than canonically non-emotional Illya...

I am eternally grateful for the absence of elf!Illya. Also, I have to agree entirely about Napoleon -- still highly unlikely but more imaginable -- which is the other reason why I find myself going "huh?" a lot. I also recently ran across a story where the writer had literally and not just figuratively castrated Illya. Meep!

Oh, yes. Was that the one where he had an accident at the age of twelve or the one where he was basically born substandard equipment? Both are equally nauseating.
*passes the brain bleach*
On the subject of elves, I must remember that
Yeah...

Egads! *scrubs brain* Nope, I've not ran across either of those. This one was down to Thrush torture (castration) before he even joined UNCLE.
Elf!Gene eh? Something tells me that will go to unexpected places. *eg*

I'm toying around with ideas at the moment. It's going to be more of an aside (probably how he gets Sam out of some trouble or other) because elves aren't in the

I'm really rather proud to say that I don't have the faintest idea why they do that to Illya... but then I don't understand Bambi!Illya either. :(
You're thinking much further ahead than me. I'm still dithering over whether to sign up for the Ficathon.

Oh and in case you haven't seen this one:
