An anonymouse is writing a reply to the Anonymous Pornfest II (The Porn Bites Back), which is a bit bizarre as it's nearly a year ago since we last ran one.

Even more bizarrely, it's an answer to the dub!con Sam/Harry Woolfe prompt.

Fic is here and isn't half-bad. Pity that the author isn't going to get much credit. I've left a note to ask whether the anonymouse wishes to repost/have it reposted/pointered on lifein1973, fingers crossed (s)he replies!

Of course, this has got me thinking. It's been a year since the last one - how do folk fancy another anon pornfest???

If so, shall we open it up for A2A as well? Or shall we not do that?

Oh, and darthfi: are you happy for the joint fic journal to be used again to this end?

One thing. I voted on the first poll; but the second one, for Ashes to Ashes? Didn't work for me. When I clicked on the Submit button, I was taken to a page that said, "Sorry, you're not allowed to see this poll."

Add supplementary canon or not?

Dunno, is the simple answer. On the one hand, I liked the ending a lot, I thought it worked, but I'm not ready yet to revisit Sam/Gene in the light of What It All Means. On the other hand, if you advertise a pornfest as including Ashes we'll be utterly swamped by Gene/Alex stuff and by people bitching that the very existence of Sam "takes away" from Alex and therefore shouldn't be allowed.

Hmm, how about allow Ashes but make it slash only? *iz evil* I'd be very happy to read some Litton/Bevan, or 'Ray enjoys the reminder of what real Manchester men are like until he realises that they're both standing too close to him and...'

Thirdly, and I don't know which side of the argument this is, I'm beginning to think that those of us who are prepared to entertain the notion of the five series being just one universe - particularly those of us without 'expertise' - have nowhere to go. Rambling now, sorry, it's way past my bed-time.

I made a community specifically for you. I gave you time to make it yourself so I wasn't the only person who bothered to do such things. There it is, a place for you to go. It's in the title, it's in the name, it's in the rules. Unlike on Lifein1973, where the opposite is true.

And, sorry, what? 'Expertise'? There are quotation marks because you're being facetious, but what does it even mean? If you're suggesting I claim to have expertise in anything, you clearly never read a word I ever say. I'm just a person flailing in the dark, terrified and alone.

lifein1973 isn't the place for A2A talk. I would feel that way even if I were a crazy A2A fan. I felt that way even when I enjoyed it a lot, a lot, a lot. If LI73 became a place for Ashes to Ashes, it would cease to be a place for LoM, and I hated when that happened with TRA. We'd end up with, frankly, some very silly people saying even sillier things about Gene/Alex (ours is a cold war). And we're doing alright on that front by ourselves.

There are enough people who do view LoM and A2A as separate entities that it makes sense that they're separate communities. And Lifein1973 has existed since the show existed --- long before TRA --- so it's only fair that it's the LoM comm. And then there were enough people who wanted to view LoM/A2A as one canon that I made a community for that purpose, at other people's request. You do have a place to go. You refuse to go there. The community could be full of LoM/A2A musings, talking about the complications of adopting canon from A2A and how that makes you feel about your writing, as well as crossover fic and icons and vids, but no one's advertising the community, not many people are posting. You could change that, but instead you make comments like this.

I'm a little sick of seeing you make these kinds of comments where you know I'd see them. This is at least the third time now and, really, it's getting on my goat. It's quite upsetting seeing you wing veiled insults my way in an arena where I don't feel comfortable winging them back. At least I put all of my whinging about you behind friends lock.

Actually, I just realised that you're referencing something I wrote with the expertise comment, so I apologise for getting annoyed by that. You'd think I'd recognise my own snarkiness, but no, I didn't. In my defence, I wrote that post after a long day of head-desking at work and I was a little enraged by three (God, three?!) A2A posts on LI73. So. I shall refrain from being offended by your echoed snarkiness. I probably deserved that one.

Oh, man. I hate confrontation so much. I know we annoy each other, DG, but I honestly never set out to intentionally piss you off. I just don't, it's not in my nature. I made ashes2life because I wanted to make you happy, I wanted to create a space where those kinds of conversations we're both (I think) interested in, could occur.
