And you know what that means...

So please comment below with a fandom (that I'm familiar with) and a book/author/book series (depending on how charitable you're feeling towards me) and I'll give you the parallels. (And, hopefully, will be funny with it...)

Okay... the fandom is molesworth and the books are [livejournal.com profile] autopope's Laundry novels.

Eep. This is where I confess that I've never read the Laundry series (despite sitting through an entire talk on the technology used in it) and, as I can't get hold of them in electronic format so I can read them on my e71, it's unlikely I will in the near future.

(They do look good, though)

They are. Well worth reading. Some of the shorts included in The Jennifer Morgue had me chuckling wildly.

Fandom: Doctor Who
Book series: McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan saga

I now have horrible visions of a Sonic Little Admiral.

But does it vibrate?

Hmm. Interesting idea. I'll will think.

An amplitude measured in MILES, baby! Can't speak for the exact frequency, but "tightly strung" springs to mind.

Phooey. Now I want a crossover where the fandom is Life on Mars and the books are molesworth (Down with Skool!).

Or, failing molesworth: Biggles.

Sort of "this is me sam tyler the curse of manchester polise which is the forse i am in. it was uterly wet and weedy but i had a accident and wen i woke up and now i get to kick crims with ma grate frend hunt. this is chris skeleton he is a gurl and sissy. he skips around the plase and sais hullo clouds hullo sky."?

What I would need is someone to do me the drawings of sam et al in the style of Ronald Searle...

Yes, that's it exactly.

What I would need is someone to do me the drawings of sam et al in the style of Ronald Searle...

*thinks about the pile of unfinished fic on the computer*

*is still nonetheless seriously tempted*

cautiously How many drawings would we be talking about, then?

At least one each of the principals, but, of course, Searles drawings are rather endearingly rough.

Hmm, let me see:

Sam = nigel
Gene = peason
Chris = fotherington-tomas
Rathbone or Morgan? = Headmaster, can't remember his name.
Ray = grabber

Annie would have to be a generic pupil. Let me see. Annie would be "a gurl and a swot".

Ha, and Phyllis is so definitely Matron!!!

So at the minimum - five. One for each of CID. Any more is a bonus. What do you reckon?

Oh God, the possibility of another collaboration? I really am the fandom bike...

Annie is a gurl and a swot chiz chiz chiz.

Tell you what. Let me work on this over the weekend (will involve my picking up a copy of Skool from the local library, since my own copy is fugitive) and see what I can do. I'd like to try my hand at Sam!nigel and Gene!peason at least, but it will require careful study of the canon first.

If you're happy with the outcome, we can proceed. If my pastiche is completely FAIL, then of course you have veto rights as any fule kno.

This is making me ridiculously happy ♥ ♥ ♥

I'll get to re-reading our copy then. Better to know the canon you are pastiching!

There's a "Down with Skool" fandom? wow, was just thinking of those books yesterday and how it was likely people around here would love them too.

Any comm/s?

I don't know of any dedicated comms. There should be though...

(there's certainly fan-fic- I've just stumbled over a "molesworth goes to hoggwarts" one!)
